UNILORIN mourns five car accident victims on campus

A fatal car accident occurred on the main campus of the University of Ilorin on Monday night, killing four people instantly.

Several others suffered varying degrees of injuries, according to reports.

The accident occurred around 10 p.m. on the institution’s main campus, reports Newslodge.

Two of the deceased victims were students and two others, said to be a couple, were aboard a Korope minibus when the accident occurred.

Unconfirmed reports said the fifth injured person involved in the crash died Tuesday, bringing the death toll to five.

The management of the University of Ilorin in a statement in Ilorin on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Kunle Akogun, said it sadly received the news of the unfortunate car accident that occurred on campus on Monday evening.

According to him, “said accident resulted in some deaths, while some occupants of the cars involved also suffered varying degrees of injuries.

“We sympathize with the parents of the deceased and plead with Almighty God to comfort them in this trial period.

“We also express our condolences to all the University students for the sad loss of their classmates.

“Management also wants the injured to recover quickly and fully,” the statement added.

The institution’s management ordered all vehicle users to strictly abide by traffic rules and regulations, especially with regard to speed limits.
