Senate approves creation of burn treatment, plastic surgery center in Ogun

The Senate on Tuesday approved a bill to establish the National Burn and Rehabilitation Center, Ilaro, Ogun state.

The approval of the bill was the consequence of the consideration of a report from the Health Committee (Secondary and Tertiary).

The bill was sponsored by Senator Tolulope Odebiyi (Ogun West).

Committee Chair Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe (Central Kwara), in his presentation said that, when established, the Center will undertake treatment of all degrees of burn procedures, cosmetics, plastics, skin grafts and skin culture.

He added that the facility would also provide training for staff in burn treatment at all levels.

The legislator said the center would provide diagnostic, curative, advocacy and rehabilitation physiotherapy services for burn victims.

“The Center will create facilities for research and training in all aspects of burns, including visual, clinical and experimental research, and will develop new diagnostic and therapeutic instruments and apparatus for the treatment of burns more suitable for the practice of treatment. of burns in Nigeria, ”said Odebiyi.
