
The Oyo state government announced Friday that it has suspended no fewer than three teachers for alleged sexual harassment of students.
All three teachers were teaching at Oyo State Basic School, Ogbomoso prior to their suspension.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Rahman Abdu-Raheem, made these disclosures in a statement made available to Newslodge on Friday evening.
He was reacting to a viral video that revealed some atrocities at the school.
He said the state government ordered the immediate suspension of three teachers who allegedly harassed some students at school.
The commissioner also explained that the Director of the school and the Director of the Oyo State Training School for the Blind have been transferred.
He added that the government made the decision in order to address the situation.
The commissioner, as he spoke further, explained that a four-man investigation panel has been established to investigate the matter.
Abdu-Raheem, who spoke further, warned directors, principals, and other staff members to desist from acts that could jeopardize the efforts of the state government.
It assured parents and other stakeholders of constant unannounced monitoring of every school in the state.
Then he “urged parents, students, and other relevant stakeholders to support and partner with this government.
According to him, the affected director is Ms. Adebiyi Racheal, while the director is Ms. Akanbi Oluwaseun.
