Senator Kabiru Marafa’s faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state of Zamfara has concluded its Congresses with the election of twenty-nine executive members to oversee the affairs of the faction for the next three years.

The faction’s spokesman, Bello Bakyasuwa, said there were thirty-two delegates from each neighborhood and thirty delegates from each of the state’s local government areas.

He said that the state congress had no problems and that Surajo Garba Maikatako Gusau was elected president of the faction, while Abubakar Yargaida emerged as the party’s secretary of state.

“Let me reiterate that this new leadership of Senator Marafa’s APC faction in Zamfara state is very aware of what is happening within the party in the state,” he added.

“Any state congress that springs from the side of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle is a trick to divert people’s attention.”

“So, with these strong Congresses from Senator Marafa’s faction, this party structure is in very good shape.”

He said that the party’s constitution states that all congresses will be held in the state capital, but due to the safety of delegates, it was held in the city of Tsafe, the Tsafe local government area of the state.

“Since the Matawalle camp was holding its own Congress in Gusau, there was no reason to hold our own Congress in Gusau, the state capital due to security concerns.”
