The Nigerian Maritime Security and Administration Agency (NIMASA) has met with the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Sune Krogstrup, about the murder of pirates in the Gulf of Guinea by a Danish frigate.
NIMASA Director General Dr. Bashir Jamoh made this known in a statement in Lagos on Friday.
The statement was signed by Mr. Edward Osagie, Deputy Director of Public Relations for NIMASA.
Jamoh said the meeting in Abuja had as its main agenda the incident, which took place in international waters between 25 and 30 nautical miles south of Nigeria’s territorial limits.
He said the agency would continue to do everything within its powers, including collaborations, to ensure that the Gulf of Guinea remains a safe place for manly maritime activities.
“Let me assure you that NIMASA is in contact with the Nigerian Navy and relevant actors, as they will continue to collaborate for total mistrust, not only in our waters, but also in the Gulf of Guinea,” he said.
Jamoh said that NIMASA will update the public with the necessary information as the situation develops and more facts become available.
