Charles Chinekezi (born 3 August 1963) hails from Ogwa in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. He is a Nigerian, professionally licensed Chartered Management Practitioner and a professor specialising in strategic media management. A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and a seasoned journalist and media expert, he serves as Executive Chairman of Avatar and Qantum AI Technologies Limited—described as Africa’s pioneering artificial-intelligence development corporation—headquartered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He holds chartered management practitioner credentials from both the Nigerian Institute of Management and the African American International Research Institute of Development Studies, with a pronounced emphasis on strategic media management. Over the years he has applied that expertise as a senior consultant to corporate organisations and government agencies.
Professor Chinekezi’s formal education began at Asa Road and Asa Triangle Primary School (CKC), Aba (1970–1976), followed by Holy Ghost College, Owerri (1976–1981). He later earned a Graduate Diploma and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from West London College of Technology in 1986, and subsequently obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Mercy International University, Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A.
His scholarly work includes periods as researcher-in-residence at the African American International Research Institute of Development Studies and at the American Institute of Management in Boston, Massachusetts. He was appointed Executive Senior Consultant at MCL Cable News Television, Nigeria, a role he held until the station’s broadcast license was withdrawn by the Federal Government in 2020 amid a nationwide policy shift that constrained cable news broadcasting.
Chinekezi is a member of numerous professional bodies: the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management, the Nigerian Institute of Sales Management, the Institute of Petroleum Products Marketing Practitioners, the American Institute of Management, and the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators, Jersey, Britain, among others.
His civic commitments include active participation in civil and human-rights organisations devoted to informed activism for good governance and societal development; he has at times held leadership positions, including chairmanship of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO).
As a renowned development scholar and journalist, he has delivered hundreds of public lectures and presented serial academic and professional papers at conferences, symposia, debates, seminars and workshops—both in Nigeria and internationally—addressing contemporary development issues of national and global importance.
Throughout a career spanning more than three decades, Chinekezi has collaborated with and consulted for international media outlets such as CNN, Reuters, E! News, Power FM Johannesburg and The Economist, among others. He has written and commented extensively across newspapers, magazines, radio, television and online platforms. His journalism followed formal training at the College of Journalism, Fleet Street, London, and at The Writing School, High Road, London, England.
His professional record includes serving as the pioneer chairman of the Aba Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists—an office in which he earned a meritorious service award—alongside numerous honours. He was decorated by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as an ambassador in the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) in Nigeria. In editorial roles, he served as Regional Controller and Eastern Bureau Chief for BUSINESS, Nigeria’s leading business magazine of the 1990s, and later as Associate Editor of Newbreed Magazine. In 2013 he was the inaugural recipient of the Distinguished Lecturer of the Year Award from Triumphant News Magazine after delivering keynote lectures for the Nigerian Institute of Management, the Nigerian Institute of Sales Management, and AAIRID in the same year. He is also an established examiner and consultant in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, having advised major organisational-change efforts across West Africa and the Gulf, with clients including an AIG subsidiary (AIICO Insurance PLC), MCL Cable News Television Nigeria and Kenfrank Nigeria Limited.
Currently he chairs the board of Avatar and Qantum AI Technologies Limited, established in 2025 as an AI and multimedia corporation based in Nigeria. The company built and launched the chat assistants Avatar AI.Dev and Qantum AI.Dev in May 2025, and created the all-in-one AI platform aigoddess.online and the AI tutor aiprofessor.site—tools designed to teach the full spectrum of the world’s learning lexicon. It also established the Avatar Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, Africa’s first advanced online AI research academy, and unveiled the continent’s first dynamic vibe coder, multiverse.build.
