France has denied report claiming that its government is in negotiation with Nigeria to destabilise Niger Republic.
Speaking during an interview with News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, on Wednesday, France’s Political Counsellor to Embassy in Nigeria, Bertrand de Seissan, described the alligation as groundless.
He added that such discussion never took place between the European country and Nigeria government.
Bertrand said: “This allegation is groundless. This has never been discussed, nor even suggested by either France or Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has also debunked the allegation, describing it as unfounded and baseless.
In a statement by its spokesman, Kimiebi Ebienfa, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed serious concern about Niger Republic Millitary leader, Abdourahamane Tchiani, allegations.

He stated that there are no French military troops in the northern part of the country preparing to destabilise the Government of Niger.
The statement reads: “These allegations are unfounded and should be discarded in their entirety.
“It is important to state that the relationship between Nigeria and France has always been cordial, and it is guided by mutual respect, dignity, and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
“Nigeria will continue to explore all peaceful means to maintain its cordial relationship with the Republic of Niger for the benefit of the people of both countries.”
INFORMATION NIGERIA learnt that the development is coming, following a claim by Niger Republic’s military leader, Abdourahamane Tchiani, saying that President Bola Tinubu’s government, offered space in its territory to France to destabilise the former French colony.
