In a spirited display of commitment to economic growth and business development, the Abia State Government has declared its unwavering dedication to the success of the 2024 Aba International Trade Fair. Scheduled to run from November 28 to December 7 at the Aba Mega Mall along the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, this year’s edition promises to be a groundbreaking event.
During a press briefing in Umuahia, Deputy Governor Engineer Ikechukwu Emetu articulated the state’s determination to ensure the event’s success, emphasizing that Governor Alex Otti’s administration has deployed every necessary resource to deliver a seamless and impactful 10-day fair.
“Governor Otti has thrown the full weight of his administration behind this project, recognizing its significance for the Aba business community and Abia’s broader economy,” Emetu stated.
A Hub for Business and Innovation
This year’s fair is expected to attract over 10,000 participants from across Nigeria and beyond, offering a platform to showcase products, foster business connections, and engage in innovation-driven conversations. Traders, manufacturers, importers, and service providers will converge to create an unparalleled marketplace teeming with opportunities.
Beyond commerce, the government aims to use the event to reframe Aba’s image as a center of enterprise and innovation. “Aba is not just a city but a historic land of opportunities for those who dare to dream,” Emetu noted, underscoring plans for a symposium focused on revitalizing Aba’s legacy as a hub for ambitious entrepreneurs.
Safety and Comfort: A Top Priority
In a region that has seen significant strides in security under Governor Otti’s leadership, the government is doubling down on safety measures to guarantee a secure environment for all attendees. “Abia has emerged as one of the safest destinations in the region,” Emetu said.
To this end, comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place. The venue will feature round-the-clock surveillance, with personnel and infrastructure working to ensure the safety of participants, products, and facilities. Additional measures include city-wide security patrols to create an incident-free experience for visitors.
For ease of transportation, free shuttle buses will operate daily, ferrying participants to and from the venue. “This initiative reflects our commitment to making movement within Aba safe and comfortable for all,” Emetu added.
Enhancing Visitor Experience
To further enrich the experience of visitors, the state government is collaborating with hotels and hospitality providers to offer special rates for Trade Fair participants. The administration has also extended invitations to all 36 states, the FCT, over 50 embassies and high commissions, numerous chambers of commerce, and more than 300 businesses nationwide.
Early responses have been encouraging, and the organizing committee expects heightened interest in the days leading up to the event.

The Trade Fair will officially open on November 28, with Governor Otti delivering the keynote address at the symposium. This conference, featuring dignitaries from Nigeria and beyond, will serve as a platform to discuss Aba’s enduring potential as a beacon of commerce and innovation.
