In a momentous event that promises to reshape the economic landscape of Abia State, Governor Alex Otti has officially launched the construction of the 19.1-kilometer Itungwa – Omoba – Amaise – Amairi – Mgboko – Ahiaba Ubi – Nkwo Elechi Road. The flag-off ceremony took place at the Omoba Rail Line Junction in Isialangwa South Local Government Area, where Governor Otti delivered a compelling speech titled “Partnership That Works For Our People.” This title encapsulates the Governor’s vision of collaboration with regional and international development partners to drive sustainable progress in Abia State.
A key highlight of Governor Otti’s address was his commitment to the project’s financial backing. He disclosed that he has already paid a counterpart funding of N600 million for RAAMP, alongside an additional N2.6 billion aimed at ensuring effective project execution. “This 19.1-kilometer stretch of road is just the pilot phase of RAAMP in our state,” the Governor stated, with an optimistic outlook on future developments. He announced plans to award additional road construction contracts before the year’s end, aiming to extend infrastructure work to 256 kilometers across various parts of Abia.
