The Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa-Onochie, has expressed immense excitement over the development strides being made by the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti within a short time in office.
Ms.Eziakonwa-Onochie who doubles as the UNDP Asst. Administrator and Director, Regional Bureau for Africa made her feelings known during a meeting with the wife of Abia state governor and her team on the sidelines of the ongoing 68th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York, United States of America.
Speaking at the private meeting in her office, the highly elated Ms Eziakonwa-Onochie recognised the definitive strides made so far towards the development of the state under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti, disclosing that she received very laudable reports from the UNDP meeting held last year in Rwanda on Dr. Otti; a meeting which the Governor attended in person.
Ms.Eziakonwa-Onochie further assured that UNDP intends to assist in bringing about sustainable growth in the area of Commerce in Aba through the introduction of advanced Technology in shoe-manufacturing to ensure that finished products meet export quality, thus giving Aba-made Products the recognition it deserves.
She reassured the Abia First Lady and her team of the willingness of her office to give necessary support to sustain the economic empowerment initiatives of Abia state government.
In her response, Mrs. Chidinma Otti appreciated the UN Assistant Secretary General for her kind words towards the government of Dr. Alex Otti and her thoughtfulness in supporting activities geared towards the fast development of the state. Mrs. Otti assured of her husband’s lofty plans and programmes for the state in line with his leadership vision and campaign promises.
Among the Abia First Lady’s entourage to the meeting were two members of the state executive council; Special Assistant to the Governor on Vulnerable Groups and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Ifeoma Thomas and Special Assistant on Women Affairs, Mrs. Chinwe Onyeukwu.
