Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the reinstatement of 15 employees of the state House of Assembly dismissed in 2021 by the administration of former governor Kayode Fayemi.
The employees were relieved of their appointments by the Fayemi administration after they were accused of misconduct, including accusations of belonging to the opposition party.
However, they got a reprieve on Thursday when they received the news of his reinstatement through the office of the Chairman of the Assembly Service Commission.
Unfortunately, one of the dismissed workers had died before reinstatement.
The Chairman of the Service Committee of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Kayode Fasakin, made this known as legislative business commenced at the Assembly complex on Thursday.

“One of the main topics discussed was the good news that caused joy and jubilation in the Commission premises regarding the approval by the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, of the immediate reinstatement of 15 members of the legislative staff dismissed due to irregular appointment in 2021,” a statement read by the commission.
”Another issue discussed at the plenary was how to improve the Staff Loans Board already established in the commission, where the chairman of the commission, Kayode Fasakin, commended the state governor and the Speaker of the House, Adeoye Aribasoye, for their efforts to guarantee the take-off of the Loan Board.
“Other members of the plenary are David Taiwo, Olajide Olaniyi, Rotimi Ajidara, Fola Richie Adewusi, Abidemi Ipinlaye, Akintunde Famoyegun and the executive secretary, Tolulope Afolabi, among others,” he added.
