The Chief of the Defense Staff, Christopher Musasays that the contributions of serving and retired officers and soldiers, as well as those who died in the course of defending the nation’s democracy and national unity, would not be in vain.
He also assured that the military will continue to pray for the speedy recovery of those who suffered one form of injury or the other while protecting the freedom of the nation and fighting the insurgency in the country.
This was stated by General Musa in a goodwill message on the occasion of the 2024 Armed Forces Day of Celebration and Remembrance.
The celebration will arrive on January 15.
“On this special occasion, let me also honor and recognize the immeasurable contributions of our brave officers and men, both serving and retired. Their selfless dedication to serving the protection of our nation’s freedom and security has resulted in the relative peace we enjoy today. I assure you of my tireless support as you continue to uphold our values of respect for the rule of law, professionalism, loyalty to constituted authority, discipline, selfless service and courage.
“For those who have suffered one form of injury or another, we appreciate you and will continue to pray for your speedy recovery. Likewise, to those who have passed away, we thank you for your great sacrifices. Always remember that all your efforts and your unwavering devotion in defense of our democracy and national unity, in accordance with our constitutional roles, will never be in vain,” Musa said in the message published on the X (formerly Twitter) of the General Headquarters of the Defense (DHQ). ).

While congratulating members of the armed forces, Musa said the day of remembrance is celebrated annually to commemorate the unwavering commitment and heroism displayed by servicemen and women in various military operations.
He added that “the day has great meaning as it gives us the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices, bravery and commitment of our fallen heroes in the defense of the territorial integrity of our country,” and added: “We remember them and “We pay our collective tribute.” for their sacrifices not only today, but every day, as they gave ‘their today’ for ‘our tomorrow.’”
The CDS tasked the members of the armed forces to ensure their full commitment to combat any security threat in the nation.
“Furthermore, as we reflect on the achievements made so far, I urge you to remain resolute in defeating all forms of security threats to ensure lasting peace and security in all areas of our dear nation.

Musa also expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support to the military, assuring him of the military’s loyalty and commitment in upholding the nation’s democratic values.
