The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed her condolences to Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, widow of the deceased Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, on the death of her husband.
Mr. Tinubu, who was at the Akeredolus residence in Ibadan, noted that the late governor fought bravely to stay alive, but every human existence is subject to the will of God.
He noted that the nation has lost one of its great men.
“He did the best he could. God will be there for you, when God shows up, that is what really matters,” Mrs Tinubu said.
The first lady admonished the widow and family to seek solace in God and rely solely on him in this difficult time.
She prayed to God to continue supporting the family.
Responding on behalf of the family, Professor Oluwole Akeredolu, said the departure of his brother is painful at this time but the family takes solace in the fact that he has gone to rest.
He thanked Mrs Tinunu and her entourage for the condolence visit, which he described as a great honour.
The first lady was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shetima, wives of members of the National Assembly, wives of the Governors of Lagos and Ogun, wife of the APC National Chairman and others.
