Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has sacked his Commissioner for Territorial and Physical Planning, Adamu Aliyu, for threatening to kill judges of the state governorship election petition tribunal.

Kano State Government Spokesperson Halilu Dantiye announced the dismissal to journalists on Friday night at a press conference at Government House.

Dantiye said the governor also relieved Yusuf Imam, his special adviser on youth, of his appointment over a statement he made against Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Dantiye said the governor condemned the remarks saying they did not represent the official position of the state government under his leadership.

Newslodge reported how Aliyu made these remarks during a protest and prayer session organized by the state government to obtain a favorable result for the party in the electoral tribunal.

Aliyu also vowed to unleash chaos among residents of the state, worse than what residents of neighboring Kaduna and Zamfara are going through.

He said if the court judges ruled against his party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), in the petition before them, they could pay with their lives.

“I send this message to the judges of the court, to any judge who allows himself to be used and collect bribes and hand down sentences that are not correct, we want to tell him that he must choose between his life and the bribe money he collected.

“We promise you (our followers), we are receiving your complaints, the votes you cast to His Excellency (Governor Yusuf) will not be in vain unless we lose our lives or Kano State falls.

“Another message for the leaders. You have seen the conflict (banditry) in Zamfara, Kaduna and Katsina, I swear because of this governorship, everyone will die. The conflict that will begin in Kano will be deadlier than those in those states and Borno,” Aliyu said.

The event was attended by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Baffa Bichi, former Deputy Governor of the State, Hafiz Abubakar, senior members of the state executive council and advisors and special assistants to the governor.
