Delta police arrested two kidnapping suspects in the Udu local government area of ​​the state.

Police spokesman Bright Edafe told reporters in Warri, Delta on Sunday that the suspects were nabbed by a police decoy squad following a credible and intelligence-led investigation.

“Decoy squad officers embarked on an undercover operation on May 11 and arrested Emmanuel James, suspected of being the leader of the gang.

“On May 12, the suspect led the operatives to the Ejewu community in the Udu local government area of ​​the state, where they arrested the gang’s driver, Ejiro Peter.

“They confessed to their involvement in a series of armed robberies and kidnappings in Ughelli and Warri and the April 27 kidnapping of Mr. and Mrs. Okutonye Efetobore in the town of Ughellli.

“They also confessed to raising N1 million before releasing the couple,” he said.

Mr. Edafe, deputy superintendent of police, said the suspects led police officers to another notorious gang member in the Egbike community in Udu local government area on May 12.

Spotting police officers, the third suspect engaged them in a gun duel, escaping through the roof of his roof with gunshot wounds in the process, he said.

He also said that when the apartment was searched, a bag containing a locally made pistol and three rounds of live 7.62 AK-47 ammunition was recovered.

Edafe added that a manhunt for the fleeing suspect was underway.
