Yusuf Gagdi, candidate for the post of Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, met with elected members on the platform of the Labor Party in Abuja in pursuit of realizing his ambition.
The meeting held in the Maitama commune of the Federal Capital, was at the request of Mr. Gagdi.
However, details of the decisions made at the meeting were not disclosed to reporters. He could not determine whether the LP’s elected legislators committed to supporting the candidate.
LP has the third highest number of elected members of the House. The party has 36 seats, behind the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) which have 177 and 116 respectively.
PREMIUM TIMES reported that Mr. Gagdi met with the Labor Party Governor-elect in Abia State, Alex Otti, as he addresses the party’s 36 elected members.
APC member Mr. Gagdi represents the Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke federal constituency of Plateau State. He is the chairman of the House Marine Committee.
Prior to his election to the House of Representatives, he had served as Vice President of the Plateau State House of Assembly.

He is one of 10 candidates who have declared interest in the battle for the presidency.
Other hopefuls include Vice President Idris Wase (APC, Plateau), Ben Kalu (APC, Abia), Muktar Betara (APC, Borno), Sada Soli (APC, Katsina), Tunji Olawuyi (APC, Kwara) and Abubakar Makki (APC, Jigawa).
Others are Tajudeen Abbas (APC, Kaduna), Aminu Jaji (APC, Zamfara) and Miriam Onuoha (APC, Imo).
Although the ruling party has yet to decide on the zoning of the offices, APC governors have recommended zoning the Speaker in Northwest or North-central.
The inauguration of the X House is scheduled for June 13.
