The Taraba Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged state security agencies to arrest its former state president, Ibrahim El’Sudi, for alleged impersonation.
James Ahmadu, the party’s interim state chairman, made the call on Friday while addressing reporters in Jalingo.
Ahmadu said the alleged suspension and expulsion of some party members was illegal and claimed that El’Sudi stepped down as APC state chairman on February 10.
He asked the national party leadership to call Mr. El’Sudi to order to avoid creating unnecessary confusion in the state party.
“We are responding to the alleged expulsion of David Kente and our elected senator for the South Taraba senatorial district, David Jimkuta, by former state president Ibrahim El-Sudi.
“Me and members of my state executive, as well as APC members in Taraba state, received the pronouncement with rude surprise and great disappointment,” he said.
He said that the dismissal of Mr. El`Sudi was duly communicated and recognized by the party’s National Labor Committee (NWC).
“You are therefore removed as party chairman and have no legal capacity to act in that capacity,” he said.
He said that as the then vice president and the highest-ranking official in the state executive, he was unanimously and legally endorsed as the party’s acting state chairman.
“Therefore, by provision of the APC constitution, El`Sudi has ceased to function as president since February 10 and has no legal right to suspend or expel any member of the party.

“We find his actions in this sad development to be an act of desperation by a drowning man who is acting on the script of his payers,” he said.
“We also call on the national leadership of our great party to call him to order in a timely manner before he creates confusion in the party.”
He said that Mr. Kente and Mr. Jimkuta are still members of the APC in Taraba.
Uten Efu, chairperson of APC in Kente Ward in Wukari local government area, denied having signed any petition for the suspension and expulsion of Mr. Kente.
In addition, Siman Yunusa, chairperson of the APC in Bete Ward, Mr. Jimkuta’s district, said the district executive did not sign any petition for the senator-elect’s suspension.
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that the faction of the party led by El’Sudi had announced the expulsion of Messrs. Kente and Jimkuta from the party.
