He Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday began distribution of confidential election materials to all 33 local government areas in Oyo state in preparation for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
The distribution of the materials was carried out at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Ibadan under strict security measures.
The materials were transferred from the CBN facilities at around 02:00 hours in the presence of police officers, personnel from the State Security Service and other security agencies.
The process was also monitored by representatives of political parties, civil society organizations, and journalists.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Rahman Tella, said that the materials that were distributed were ballots, EC8 series and results sheets.
Mr. Tella added that the Registration Area Centers (RAC) will be activated in the state on Friday.
The REC said that INEC is ready for the election, ensuring that the election will be free, fair and credible in the state.
INEC in Osun state also distributed sensitive election materials to local government areas in the state amid a heavy security presence.
In Osun, the distribution was monitored by representatives of political parties, journalists, and observers.
Some of the materials distributed were ballots and results sheets for the presidential, senatorial, and House of Representatives elections, among others.
