Elon Musk reported to have officially controlled Twitter. He immediately took drastic action, namely firing Twitter officials, including the singer CEO. They had all left Twitter headquarters in San Francisco.
According to the Washington Post, Friday (10/28/2022) CEO Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, and top attorney for Twitter, Vijaya Gadde, were dismissed. Twitter’s General Counsel, Sean Edgett, was also fired.
When he intended to buy Twitter, Musk had already stated that he did not trust Twitter management. The CEO, Parag Agrawal, has repeatedly argued with Musk over the spam issue on Twitter and other issues.
However, Agrawal was not fired empty-handed. According to financial research firm Equilar, he will receive a very large severance pay, in the range of USD 42 million.
Elon Musk has criticized Twitter’s management team several times, particularly regarding its censorship and content moderation policies. He also considers the data on bots or spam accounts on Twitter to be higher than management reports.
Especially with Agrawal, he had several arguments. In fact, the delay in purchasing a Twitter account is based on the reason that Elon Musk doubt the number of bots is only 5% of all accounts, as Twitter claims.
“Twitter deals are temporarily suspended, (there are) pending details for calculations that spam/fake accounts do represent less than 5% of users,” Elon said in an earlier tweet.
Parag immediately responded to Elon Musk. “This figure is based on reviews by people on thousands of accounts, with random and consistent samples from time to time,” he explained.
“There are many very important details about this. We have shared the outline of the process with Elon a week ago and are ready to continue talking with him and also with you,” added Parag at the time before Elon Musk forward the Twitter purchase deal.
