An unidentified man was rescued Wednesday from committing suicide in a lagoon in Lagos state.
He had attempted to jump into the lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, but was rescued by patrol officers from the Lekki dealership (LCC).
“Thanks to the quick intervention of LCC patrol officers, a young man was saved from committing suicide on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge,” LCC tweeted.
“He has been handed over to the police.”
In the video shared by the company, a patrol woman held the man along with other passers-by, begging him not to jump into the lagoon.
“You will see connection (helper). You’re a man, okay. You are a man, you are a man,” she said.
“Do not die. Your future is bright. Come, let me find you a job. Your future is bright. Honey, it’s okay.”
The man grabbed the railing of the bridge in a move to jump into the lagoon.
The person behind the camera asked people to help him stop him from committing suicide.
“Please help us hold it,” he said.
The unidentified man was crying when he was helped away from the bridge railing.
Also, in April, police prevented a suicide attempt in the state.
The sixty-year-old (name withheld) had tried to jump into the Lagos lagoon from the third mainland bridge due to personal problems.
