Police Command in adamawa It said its agents killed three suspected kidnappers, arrested two others and rescued one victim in a joint operation with hunters in the Fufore local government area of the state. Suleiman Nguroji, the spokesman for the command, confirmed this in a statement released Thursday in Yola.
He said the incident occurred on May 17 at Samlo Hill, connecting part of the towns of Chigari and Gurin in the area.
“The operation, which was carried out by the Commando operatives attached to the Gurin Division and the Hunters in Samlo Hill, situated in a remote side of Chigari and Gurin District in Fufore local government, yielded another positive result.
“The result of these successes followed up on the strategy designed by the command to control cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, rustling, illegal possession of firearms, among other crimes.
“When the alleged kidnappers saw our men, they engaged them in a duel with weapons, as a result, three of them were neutralized and two were arrested,” he said.
According to him, the operation successfully rescued a kidnapped victim, Buba Hamidu, a resident of Samlo village in Fufore local government.
Other suspects escaped with gunshot wounds, the spokesman said.
He said Adamawa Police Commissioner Sikiru Akande praised the DPO Gurin division, in charge of Chigari, and the hunters for their efforts.
Mr. Akande, he stated, charged other DPOs to be proactive in controlling crime and criminality in their respective jurisdictions.
The police commissioner assured the government and residents of the state of a sustained effort to clean up all the horrible black criminal sports in the state.
“The police chief directs the OC Crack Squad to take charge of the investigation and ensure prosecution,” he said.
