The award was presented by President Muhammadu Buhari on the 19th National Productivity Day (NPD) held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

Lagos State Education Commissioner Folashade Adefisayo added that the administration led by Mr. Sanwo-Olu has been deliberate and resolute through the annual teacher merit award, appreciating and celebrating the efforts of teachers to raising the younger generation of Nigerians.
He said the governor has awarded teachers and school administrators in various categories with 13 cars in 2021, adding that the process for the 2022 edition is nearly complete.

In a statement issued by the ministry and signed by the deputy director of the public affairs unit, Ganiu Lawal, the laureate thanked the Nigerian government for recognizing her contributions and recommending her for the national award.

She commended Ms. Elusakin and several other teachers in her category for their dedication, diligence, and for contributing their fee to raising the level of education in the state.
According to the Commissioner, the performance of the state’s students on the 2021 West African High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), which scored with a 79 per cent pass rate, “is an indication that the administration of the Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu can claim success in raising the level of education in the state.”
