Bauchi Governor Courts FCT, Anambra and Enugu Delegates and Promises Inclusive Government

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has pledged to lead a government in which no region or demographic group will be left out if he wins the 2023 presidential race.

Mohammed, a candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform, said this at a meeting with party delegates in Abuja and Anambra on Thursday and Friday respectively.

His meeting with delegates in Anambra state was attended by PDP members from Enugu and Ebonyi states.

The Governor of Bauchi, in a statement signed by the CEO of his presidential campaign, Udenta Udenta, urged delegates to support him in his quest to renew Nigeria with knowledge-based solutions.

“We are delighted with the enthusiasm and cooperation expressed by the FCT delegates, Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi,” the statement read.

“It is amazing how effortlessly delegates connect with Senator Bala Mohammed’s powerful message of hope and national recovery with every region and group contributing their share to that effort.

The presidential campaign of Sen Bala Mohammed is an unstoppable movement, without a doubt”.

In April, Mr. Mohammed and a former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, were controversially shortlisted by the Northern Elders Forum as their consensus candidates ahead of the May 28 PDP presidential primaries.

PREMIUM TIMES, in an exclusive report, revealed the Governor of Bauchi’s behind-the-scenes move to retain his seat in the state, even if he fails in his presidential bid.

It was reported that Mohammed secretly obtained the PDP gubernatorial nomination form to participate in his state’s gubernatorial primary, a development that Udenta denied as hearsay.

Mr. Udenta, however, after Mr. Mohammed’s recent meeting with the delegates, expressed confidence that the governor will win the PDP’s candidacy.

“They should throw their support behind a visionary leader who is fully prepared for national sacrifice, who is tried and trusted and whose compelling life journey and exposure as a journalist, civil servant, senator, minister and governor has equipped him with the skills set to tackle the myriad of terrifying problems this clueless APC administration has bequeathed to the nation.

“Under the watchful eye of Bala Mohammed’s presidency, it will harness the nationalistic instincts inherent in Nigerian citizens to drive national development of both the individual and the community vertically and horizontally.

“And we trust that Sen Bala Mohammed will get your support,” he said.

With the recent decision of the PDP to avoid its rotating arrangement and open the candidacy, the governor of Bauchi, except for last minute changes, will face another 14 candidates.

They include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; the former presidents of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and Pius Anyim; Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike; Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the State of Sokoto; former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and many other hopefuls.
