Buhari Condemns Plateau Murders, Says Perpetrators Should Not Be Forgiven

President Muhammadu Buhari has described as “appalling” the murder of dozens of people in Plateau Monday.

Buhari said the perpetrators “should not be pardoned or pardoned.”

He urged residents of the north-central state to “expose the perpetrators of such incidents, their sponsors and those who encourage those criminals who carry out these cowardly acts of murder, so that the law can take its course.”

The president’s position was contained in a statement from his spokesman, Garba Shehu.

PREMIUM TIMES reported how unidentified gunmen attacked several communities in Plateau, killing more than 100 people.

Plateau had witnessed much ethno-religious violence, often between migrant herders and farming communities.

In his statement, Shehu said that the full details of the attack are not yet known, even to the president.

As full details emerge on the scale of the brutal terror attacks on the Kanam and Wase communities in Plateau state, President Muhammadu Buhari has described the killings as heinous and said the perpetrators must not be allowed to escape Justice.

“They must not be pardoned or pardoned,” the president ordered.

He ordered law enforcement to work vigorously with the state government to bring the situation under control and take steps to bring the culprits to justice quickly.

President Buhari expressed his condolences over the terrorist incident, saying that as a matter of priority, peace must return to the state and the entire country at all costs.

“I urge all of our citizens, in particular the people of the Plateau State, to expose the perpetrators of such incidents, their sponsors, and those who encourage those criminals to commit these cowardly acts of murder, so that the law can take its course.” .
