the officials of the rapid response squad (RRS), a tactical team from the Lagos Police Command, on Sunday, intercepted a bus full of illicit drugs at Mile 2.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesman in the state, said in a statement that the “shipment” worth N10 million belongs to an ‘Alhaji’.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the drug that was loaded onto a Lagos color LT bus, with license plate AGL 205 YD, belonged to a certain Alhaji, better known as General en Mushin,” the statement read.
“A member of the drug syndicate confessed that they picked up the shipment, which has a street value of approximately ten million naira (10,000,000.00), in Alaba Rago at around 10pm yesterday to send it to Mushin.
Police said patrolling security officers caught the suspects around 4 a.m. during a routine stop-and-frisk exercise.
Hundeyin said a drug syndicate member, Oluwole Omojuyitan, 40, who had initially fled the scene on a bicycle, was arrested by officers after he returned in an attempt to bribe officers with N500,000 to release drugs and colleagues.
