Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State apologized to the people of the state and other guests at his inauguration for the “breach of protocol” during the ceremony.
Bianca Ojukwu and former Governor Willie Obiano’s wife, Ebelechukwu, were involved in a fight during the inauguration ceremony.
The governor’s press aide Joe Anatune, who revealed in a statement Thursday that Soludo has apologized for the incident, said the breach was caused by inappropriate communication stemming from a “personal issue between the two parties.”
“Measures are being taken to resolve the misunderstanding and restore the parties to their previous relationship,” he said.
“Over the years, Anambra State has been known for a great deal of social harmony, and the amount will increase substantially in the coming years as part of concerted efforts to accelerate the development of the state,” added Mr. Anatune.
Soludo, along with Deputy Governor Onyeka Ibezim, were sworn in at a low-key ceremony.

TO video clip of the incident showed Ms. Obiano getting up from her seat and walking over to talk to Ms. Ojukwu.
A few seconds into their conversation, Ms. Ojukwu is seen slapping the ex-governor’s wife and then a fight ensued, prompting people on the podium to rush to separate the two women.
An online newspaper reported that Ms. Obiano allegedly made fun of Ms. OjukwuSaying, “I thought you said we’d never be governor.”
Because Ms. Obiano got up from her seat and walked over to where Ms. Ojukwu was sitting, many people, including journalists, thought that she (Ms. Obiano) was the one who assaulted the other.
Ms. Ojukwu is said to have despised Governor Obiano’s administration during his eight-year tenure.
Hours before Mr. Soludo’s inauguration, Ms. Ojukwu wrote on her Facebook page“It is the day of liberation, and today we sing the song of redemption”, apparently jubilant that the Obiaino administration was coming to an end.
“Anambra will be better,” he added.
“This is the day the Lord has made…a day that reaffirms the eternal truth that no one occupies the stage forever. I thank the Almighty for keeping us all alive to witness this day,” he said in another Facebook post.
