The suspect, who lives in the Ifo local council of the state, was arrested over the weekend by the commando.

State police public relations officer Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested after a distress call received by policemen attached to the Agbado division headquarters.

Oyeyemi said police were told his uncle’s wife stabbed a boy in the neck, following a misunderstanding after the deceased allegedly broke a mirror.

“It was revealed that a mirror used in the house was broken and it is alleged that the decedent broke it. It was the accusation that caused the disagreement between the deceased and his uncle’s wife, after which the suspect took a kitchen knife and stabbed the deceased in the neck.

“At the distress call, DPO Agbado Division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga quickly led his men to the scene, where the suspect was immediately arrested and the victim who was in a pool of his own blood was rushed to hospital. Unfortunately, the doctor on duty confirmed his death and his corpse was deposited in the morgue of the Ifo general hospital for autopsy,” the police image maker said.

Oyeyemi said state Police Commissioner Lanre Bankole ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state Department of Intelligence and Criminal Investigation for further investigation and prosecution.
