Benin closed for the eighth Oba Golf tournament

Even with the action at the 2021 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations commanding the country’s attention, residents of Benin City and its surrounding areas are silent compared to the eighth Benin Oba Golf Tournament taking place today. and tomorrow at the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS).

The Copa Oba tournament, which is one of the largest golf events in the South-South region, will feature the participation of more than 200 amateur and professional golfers from various clubs in the country.

Benin Club Golf Section Captain Mayer Ologbosere revealed during a press conference on Wednesday that professional golfers will tee off the competition from Wednesday to Thursday.

The captain added that today is the first day and will feature players with handicaps 0-28 men and 0-36 women, as well as all the veterans and super-veterans, while the cocktail is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

He added that the men’s hcp 0-18, as well as the women’s hcp 0-28 and all the guests will exercise their skills in tomorrow’s event, while the dinner and trophy and award ceremony will take place from 6:00 pm of this very day.

Similarly, the president of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, Peace Anunah, confirmed that His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of the Kingdom of Benin, will perform the starting ceremony tomorrow at 9:00 am.

He added that players from Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba are expected; Ogunnu Golf Resort, Warri; Sapele Athletic Club, Delta State; UBTH Golf Club, Benin City; IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja; Ikoyi Golf Club, Lagos; Arsenal Golf Club, Owerri, Imo State; and many others.

“The winners of each category will get trophies and other prizes, while individual performances such as the longest drive and the closest pin will be rewarded,” he concluded.
