The PDP committee authorizes the six applicants

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has approved its six gubernatorial hopefuls for the July 16 gubernatorial election in Osun state.

Muhammed Adoke, chairman of the party’s selection committee, revealed this while presenting the committee’s report to Umaru Bature, PDP National Organizing Secretary, in Abuja on Thursday.

Adoke, the federation’s former attorney general, said none of the applicants were disqualified as they all cleared the selection fences.

It included the party’s 2018 gubernatorial candidate, Ademola Adeleke; the former Secretary of Government of the State of Osun, Abdulateef Akinbade; Akin Ogunbiyi, Omirin Emmanuel Olusanya, Dele Adeleke and Dotun Babayemi as approved applicants.

Mr Adoke told the National Labor Committee (NWC) that the exercise was carried out painstakingly in accordance with the party’s guidelines and constitution.

In his comment, Mr. Bature commended the committee members for their selfless service and promised that the party would provide all applicants with equal opportunities.

“Osun is one of the most important states for our party.

“We believe that with the work that this committee has done, all the applicants will be happy with the result.

“Applicants will see that we have done what is best for them,” Bature said.

In addition to Mr. Adoke, other members of the committee include former Foreign Minister Aminu Wali; a former Governor of Plateau State, Fidelis Tapgun; a former member of the House of Representatives, Nnenna Ukeje and Rahman Owokoniran, who served as his secretary.

The committee was constituted on Monday.
