
A baby, its mother, adult women and the elderly were among those who perished in the accident.
The accident involved 45 passengers on two commercial buses, with license plates KBT 152 XA and NSR 275 ZX, which collided and caught fire.
The commander of the Kano sector of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Zubairu Mato, confirmed the incident to reporters.
Mato blamed the accident on excessive speed and dangerous driving.
“The accident involved 45 passengers, of whom 14 adult men, four adult women and a male child lost their lives, while another 26 suffered serious injuries,” he said.
According to the sector commander, the wounded were taken to the Kura General Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families at the Bebeji Police Division.
