Following the invasion by armed police and planned demolition, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited Magodo’s estate on Tuesday and ordered it to leave.
He said a committee has been created to resolve the crisis.
Sanwo-Olu also scheduled a meeting with all parties involved in the agrarian crisis on Wednesday at 11 a.m. M.
On Tuesday morning, many residents of the farm protested the continued presence of armed police.
The protest and the closing of the property’s gate nullified the vehicular movement as some residents and business owners were unable to go to their various destinations.
Withdrawal order
Mr. Sanwo-Olu, while addressing the journalists, ordered the withdrawal pending the outcome of the meeting with the parties involved: police, judicial creditors, residents and government officials.
“First is to wish everyone a happy new year. It is very difficult to start the year like this and it is because of the importance we attach to the lack of adequate information that I had to take on this task myself, said Mr. Sanwo-Olu.
“When the first attempt happened about two weeks ago, I intervened and if you remembered it very well, the action was immediate and there were no more incidents and throughout the festive period, we had initiated communication.
The governor said he has spoken “extensively” with the inspector general of police and the attorney general on the matter.
No more harassment
Mr. Sanwo-Olu urged residents to carry out their various activities and be assured that no one will be “harassed and no property will be trampled on”, pending the outcome of the meeting.
“All of you have been wonderful, so let’s continue to maintain the peace we have in Magodo and I can assure you that none of your houses will be marked again and those that have been marked, we will try to see how. we will solve it because the war is not taking anyone anywhere, it is on the table that we will all solve it, “he said.

“I want to appeal to all of you to leave and return to your homes, as nothing will happen to anyone, as I am here to ensure that Magodo continues in peace and safety for our residents. Any property that has been locked would be opened as everything would be resolved. “
Background
In early December, there were riots at the Magodo Phase 2 farm in Lagos on Tuesday when dozens of policemen and officers from the Shangisha Homeowners Association invaded the farm to carry out a court ruling.
According to eyewitness accounts, police officers and members of the Shangisha Homeowners Association arrived with bulldozers in an attempt to demolish properties within the estate.
