Two people were killed and two others injured after a powerful explosion ripped through an Indian court building on Thursday, police said.
“There has been an explosion, but we cannot confirm the cause,” said a police officer at the scene.
“We can confirm that four people are injured and of four, two are dead,” he added.
The blast damaged bathroom walls and smashed glass in other rooms, NDTV reported.
Punjab State Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said the government was “on alert” and announced an investigation.
“I will arrive at the scene of the explosion shortly and assure the people of the state that the culprits will not be spared,” Channi tweeted.
“Anyone who tries to disturb the peace and harmony of the state will be charged.”
