Four die in Lagos-Ibadan highway accident

At least four people were killed, while eight others suffered varying degrees of injuries in an accident involving a Mazda bus and truck at Lufwape on the Lagos-Ibadan highway on Sunday.

Ahmed Umar, the sector commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the incident to reporters in Abeokuta.

Mr. Umar pointed out that the incident occurred at 3:40 pm and was caused by the truck driver, who was speeding too much and driving dangerously.

It claimed that 20 people were involved in the accident, including 12 male and eight female passengers, and said that eight men and six women were injured while two male and two female passengers were killed in the accident.

“The truck driver was driving dangerously, forcing the Mazda bus driver to lose control and crashed on the road.

Unfortunately, the truck driver escaped, ”he said.

It stated that the injured victims were taken to the Idera hospital, Sagamu, for treatment, while the deceased were deposited in the same hospital morgue.

Umar warned motorists about dangerous driving, warning them to drive defensively, maintaining a safe speed, and obeying traffic rules and regulations.

The sector commander took pity on the families of the accident victims and ordered them to contact FRSC Mowe Division for further information on the accident. (YAYA)
