Senate to amend its Standing Rules
The Senate says it is working on plans to amend its Standing Rules, adopted in 2015.
The president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, revealed this Wednesday during the plenary session, adding that the decision was to update the rules in accordance with the current reality.
The president of the Senate explained that the amendment would allow the Senate to accommodate the committees created under the Eighth Assembly and not included in the current rules.
“Copies of the proposals will be distributed today and the idea is that we all study them between now and Monday, and we will review them on Tuesday.
“So if any of us have any additional ideas or suggestions on what was presented on Tuesday, we should be able to have our positions.
“It is inevitable that the regulations in force, as they are today, have to be modified so that we are up to date in everything we do here,” he said.
