Agents from the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, rescued two herders who were kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the state.
The two herders, who were abducted from Supare Akoko in the southwestern Akoko local government area of the state by about seven herders, were rescued after spending a few days in captivity.
Revealing how the two herders who are blood brothers were rescued, the commander of the Amotekun Corps in the state, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, on Thursday night said that a union member, Sidi Amodu, was detained when his men they broke into the kidnappers’ lair. who were of Fulani origin.
According to Adeleye, the kidnappers who blindfolded and tied their victims to a tree were trapped inside a forest in Supare Akoko.
The Commander added that the victims who were unable to pay the ransom demanded by their kidnappers were about to be euthanized when they were rescued.
“This is a case of shepherds kidnapped by fellow Fulani. The two victims rescued by Amotekun are Musa Ibrahim and Amidu Ibrahim, they are brothers and they are shepherds.
Confessing to the crime, the arrested kidnapper said that the gang that consisted of seven pastors moved to the state from Edo state after passing through Okenne in Kogi state.
He also confessed that his gang managed to kidnap eight people during their last operation.
Sidi Amodu further revealed that in an attempt to ensure smooth operations, they hired cows as a cover-up to disguise themselves as real herders.
