
The traditional rulers of the Igbo-Etiti local government area of the state of Enugu, on Thursday, paid a solidarity visit to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Government House, Enugu, and congratulated him on his gigantic progress in development, especially in the areas rural areas, as well as for their unparalleled commitment to peace and security despite the nation’s economic, security, and public health challenges.
The Royal Fathers expressed their satisfaction that the peace, security and good governance rooted in the state of Enugu by the administration of Governor Ugwuanyi have made the state “the preferred destination of all people in Nigeria, in particular of our southeastern brethren. “
Led by the Chairman of the Igbo-Etiti Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Highness Igwe Michael C. Odo, the Traditional Rulers, said: “Your Excellency, we visit you today with pride and satisfaction. Indeed, it makes no sense to say that since he took office in 2015, he has manifestly and undoubtedly shot the state of Enugu to global recognition with his massive and widespread infrastructure development in all 260 districts and 450 autonomous communities in the state.
“We cannot thank you enough for the love you have shown to our people in the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area. In fact, he has demonstrated this love in the number of critical appointments he has given to our people, such as has never been done in the history of the state.
“Your Excellency, we are in great debt to you for the enormous development projects that you have carried out in our local government.
“These include the construction and commissioning of the state-of-the-art Ogbede General Hospital with rooms for staff; construction of all the necessary structures for the immediate take-off of the Ohodo Federal Polytechnic that it attracted; construction of the Ohodo-Umunna-Ozalla-Ohebe-Aku highway by the State Rural Mobility and Access Project (RAMP).
“Construction of a mobile police barracks complete with the Army Parade Field and Barracks in Ekwegbe, Igbo-Etiti LGA; construction of several river crossings at Agu Ukehe and Agu Ekwegbe, all at Igbo-Etiti LGA; rehabilitation of the Ekwegbe well; and provision of Transformers and extension of Power Lines in Ukehe, Aku, Ikolo, Ohodo, etc. all in Igbo-Etiti LGA ”.
Emphasizing that they are proud of the unique and outstanding efforts of their administration to transform the state and ensure peace and safety of lives and property, the Kings assured Governor Ugwuanyi of “our loyalty and uncompromising support”, saying: “As rulers traditional, we are irrevocably committed to the declaration of our people at the “Odinma Nsukka Rally at Nsukka High School”.
The event was witnessed by senior government officials from Igbo-Etiti LGA such as the Secretary of the State Government (SSG), Prof.Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, two members of the House of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ezenta Ezeani and Rt. Hon. James Akadu; Land and Urban Development Commissioner Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh; the President of the Council, Hon. Ms. Nkechi Ugwu-Oju, and Special Advisor to the Governor on Rural Development, Hon. Ikenna Nwodo.
Others were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Hon. Ogbons Idike, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ifeanyi Agujiobi, his counterpart in the Debt Management Office (DMO), Chinonye Okegbe and Samson Ezea, Media Assistant to the Governor.
