All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) says atik abubakarthe presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), only talks about national unity. the 2023 elections.

He claimed that Atiku’s recent statement that northern Nigerians did not need a Yoruba or Igbo president was the worst expression of ethnocentric opportunism ever uttered by a former vice president.

“This clearly demonstrates how low a man once honored with the second highest office is willing to sink in pursuit of an endless wild goose chase for the highest office in the country.

“This confirms that Abubakar feasted on such low and cheap primal sentiments to use the masses and elites of the North as a ladder to rise to power in 1999 with no dividend to show for it,” Onanuga said.

Mr. Onanuga quoted Atiku as saying, “what the average northerner needs is someone from the north who understands that part of the country and has been able to build bridges across the country.

“This is what the northerner needs; you do not need a Yoruba or Igbo candidate. I stand before you as a Pan-Nigerian of Northern origin.”

He argued that with the declaration, Atiku had presented himself as a candidate from the north who should only be supported by the people of his region.

He stressed that Atiku’s public statement that framed him as an ethnic and regional champion was unbecoming of a man who was once Nigeria’s vice president.

He added that the PCC was not surprised by Atiku’s desperate position, stating that he resorted to stoking ethnic sentiments, knowing that his chances in 2023 had turned into a mirage.

“He has himself and no one else to blame for his expected electoral misfortune. First, he broke the fundamental rules of power rotation in his party and in the country.

“As if this capital sin were not enough, the PDP candidate has remained defiant in the face of pressure by preserving the two highest seats in his party for people from his region.

“The Nigerian public now knows best that a man who has been campaigning as a supposed unifier of our disparate groups is a tribal jingoist.

“Now he has completely gutted all pretense of being a detribalized Nigerian. It can be shown that he is the antithesis of a pan-Nigerian politician,” Onanuga stressed.

He added that Nigerians of good will, who daily seek a united and prosperous nation, must reject Atiku and his party at the polls in February 2023.

“Abubakar only pays lip service to national unity even though it is listed as one of the five cardinal points of his so-called pact with Nigerians.

“The facade has been blown. Now he is completely naked before the Nigerian people,” said APC’s CCP Director of Media and Publicity.
