On Saturday night, angry youths set fire to a suspected motorcycle thief in the Angwan Rukuba community of Jos North Local Government Area in Plateau State.
Sources said the victim had stolen several motorcycles within the area, adding that when the victim was arrested by an angry mob, he was lynched to death and his body was then set on fire.
Plateau State Police Command spokesman Alabo Alfred, who confirmed the incident, said police were investigating those responsible for the lynching.
Similarly, there was chaos on Saturday night in the Gwarandok community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau state after a clash between people suspected of being members of two rival gangs.
Local sources told PREMIUM TIMES that one person was killed in the altercation and five others were injured.

Police spokesman Mr. Alfred also confirmed the incident, explaining that “two people who were found lying on the ground at the scene of the incident were taken to hospital. One later died while the other is in critical condition. It is a fight between two groups of young people.”
The incident, according to sources, occurred around 7:00 p.m. this Saturday in the surroundings of that area.
Business activities stalled as stores were hastily closed for fear of retaliatory attacks.
It was inferred that some gang members had previously launched an attack on their rival gang in Namu Junction on Friday night, but were repelled by local vigilantes.
