Four people were killed while eight others suffered varying degrees of injuries in an accident involving an articulated vehicle and a Mazda Foursquare bus on the Ogunmakin axis on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that Ogunmakin is in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Ahmed Umar, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, who confirmed the incident to reporters in Abeokuta on Sunday, said the accident occurred at 8:45 pm on Saturday.
Mr. Umar explained that the accident was caused by the excessive speed and loss of control of the bus driver who hit the parked truck.
The sector commander explained that a CNHTC vehicle labeled XA 802 KKM and a Mazda bus with license plate SHK 684 XA were involved in the crash.
He added that 13 people were involved in the accident, of which 12 were men and one woman, he said that eight people were injured, all men, while four people died, three men and one woman.
Mr. Umar stated that the injured victims were transferred to Victory Hospital, Ogere, while the bodies were deposited in the FOS morgue, Ipara.

The sector commander described the accident as an avoidable act if precaution had been taken, using a common sense speed limit, especially when it was raining.
He urged motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations, especially for speed violations.
He sympathized with the family of the victims and also asked them to contact the FRSC command in the Ogunmakin area of the state for details of the accident and claim the victims’ properties recovered from the scene.
