NiMet predicts 3 sunny and cloudy days from Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecast sunshine and cloudiness from Thursday to Saturday across the country.

The NiMet weather forecast released in Abuja on Wednesday predicted sunny skies on Thursday with patchy clouds over the northern region with the prospect of morning thunderstorms over parts of Taraba.

According to him, thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening in parts of Bauchi, southern Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, southern Kaduna and Taraba.

“The North Central region should be predominantly cloudy with a chance for morning thunderstorms in parts of Nasarawa and the FCT.

“The region is expected to be under cloudy skies with the prospect of thunderstorms in parts of Plateau, Kogi, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa and the FCT during the afternoon and evening.

“A cloudy environment is forecast over inland and southern coastal cities in the mornings.

“In addition, there are prospects for overnight thunderstorms in parts of Oyo, Enugu, Ondo, Delta, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Ogun, Edo, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and Bayelsa states,” he said.

The agency forecasts that the northern region will be sunny on Friday with patchy clouds in the morning and thunderstorms are expected in the early morning in parts of Taraba, Kaduna, Kebbi and Zamfara.

According to him, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Borno, Taraba, Adamawa, Zamfara, Bauchi and Kaduna states later in the day.

“During the afternoon and evening hours, thunderstorms are expected in parts of Ogun, Osun, Edo, Oyo, Ondo, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa and Enugu states,” he said.

The agency forecasts sunny skies with cloud patches on Saturday over the northern region with the prospect of morning thunderstorms over parts of Adamawa and Taraba.

Expect thunderstorm prospects in the afternoon and evening in parts of Taraba, Bauchi, Adamawa and Kaduna state.

“For areas where thunderstorms are expected, strong and stormy winds are likely. To reduce the incidence of erosion, gutters and waterways must be cleared of debris and obstacles to ensure the free flow of stormwater.

“Airline operators are recommended to obtain up-to-date weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” he emphasized. (YAYA)
