Background
She grew up in Ibadan, where she lived with her family for the majority of her life. The majority of her time was spent with her mother, who worked at Mobil. Her parents split when she was just ten years old, and she was left without a father. The children remained with their mother, who had gone to work as a cook at Mobil Oil. Speaking about how the divorce affected her, the actress revealed:
“My mother bred us from childhood to adulthood because of the divorce. I was almost a tom boy growing up with my brothers. It’s heartbreaking when you live with your parents happily and suddenly, they part ways. Sincerely, we were terribly affected emotionally. It was especially tough where it was only our mother that was attending functions in school and taking care of our needs. It was emotionally sapping and my brothers have their own fair share of memories. It affected me so much while in secondary school because I was always sad going home after school hours to see my mother living without my father. But mum tried her best to make life meaningful for us; she is my hero. And I appreciate God for being there for us.”
Following that, the family relocated, first to Jakande Estate in Lagos, and later to Thomas Estate in Lekki. Annie lost one of her brothers (the younger one) to tuberculosis when she was fifteen years old. Annie began working as soon as she graduated from high school in order to assist her mother in maintaining the family’s financial stability. She used to work as a salesperson in a shop, as well as at two other establishments, before enrolling in university. Even while pursuing a degree at the Lagos State University, she did not give up her day job. She graduated from there with a degree in Computer Science. Following that, she was accepted into the University of Lagos, where she acquired her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Today, the actress maintains contact with her family, which includes her father, with whom she just reconciled after a tumultuous relationship. Career
Even before she became a well-known Nollywood actress, Annie took on a variety of acting and modeling roles that came her way during her life. She received fees ranging from 2000 to 5000 naira, but she never gave up hope and continued to strive towards her goal of breaking through. Some of her more well-known clients included KC Jabari and Dakova, among others. In 2004, she got her first opportunity to exhibit her face in a relatively large item when she starred in the music video for her then-boyfriend, now-husband, 2Baba’s African Queen, which was directed by her now-husband. The video was quite popular when it was first released, and it has since amassed millions of views on YouTube. Annie knew she wanted more after seeing the video and realizing she had a taste of stardom.
Prior to launching her film career, Annie Macaulay-Idibia competed in a beauty pageant called Queen of All Nations, where she placed third, just a few months before the start of her film career. Annie is not only a well-known and accomplished actress, model, and entrepreneur, but she is also a devoted wife and mother to her two children. She met her husband, Innocent Idibia, also known as 2face, 2face Idibia, or 2Baba, when they were both in their early twenties. The couple started dating in 2002 and have been together on and off since then. They tied the knot in May. The wedding of Annie Idibia and 2Baba took place in 2013. 2Baba’s daughter Annie Idibia has two daughters, Isabella Idibia (born in 2008) and Olivia Idibia (born in 2014).
Annie is also a mother to five more 2face Idibia children: Zion, Nino, Ehi, Justin, and Innocent, all of whom were born to Annie. These children are the result of 2face’s relationships with three other women before proposing to Annie.
