Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, has issued warning to traders selling cigarettes to underage children in the state.
Disclosing this in a statement on Wednesday, LASEPA’s General Manager, Babatunde Ajayi, said that the agency will soon enforce the ban on the sale of cigarettes to minors.
Babatunde also unveiled series of initiatives aimed at improving public engagement, environmental monitoring, and enforcement regulations for 2025.
He added that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwolu will soon place ban on public smoking.

He said: “The agency will also enforce regulations prohibiting the sale of cigarettes to minors and continue raising public awareness on the dangers of smoking.
“We are increasing our capacity across our public complaints portal, making it easier for people to reach us.
“This year, we will deploy new complaint management systems that will help us filter and address issues as they arise, ensuring better engagement and faster responses.
“We will tighten our approach to chemical handling, as it remains one of the major environmental challenges in the state.”
