The police have vowed to rescue six members of a family who were kidnapped from their house in the Bwari council area of Abuja on January 2.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made the promise in a statement on his X handle on Saturday.
The security comes when it emerged that one of the victims, identified as Najeeba, had been executed by the kidnappers.

Two days later, he tweeted that the kidnappers released the girls’ father while a N60 million ransom was imposed for the lives of the six sisters.
However, after the hashtag #Najeebaandhersisters was created to raise the N60 million, Mrs Asiya announced on X on Saturday that Najeeba had been killed because her father could not meet the January 12 deadline for the payment of the 60 million naira.
He added that the kidnappers had raised the ransom to N100 million.
Adejobi, in the statement titled “We are committed to tackling the kidnapping, rescuing the victims unharmed”, said the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had ordered the creation of a “top level tactical intelligence team”, which He is currently carrying out the investigation clandestinely.
“In the wake of the abduction of six girls in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, it is vital to state that the Police have already initiated a comprehensive action plan. “Force Headquarters is diligently coordinating efforts to address this and prevent it from happening again as everyone is on hand to rescue the victims,” the statement said.
Adejobi explained that, due to the sensitivity of the matter, the operation will be carried out secretly so as not to compromise him.
“However, the sensitivity of the situation requires discretion and, as a result, specific details are kept confidential to avoid compromising ongoing operations.
“The NPF is actively engaging and contacting people crucial to the rescue operations and investigation. The goal is not only to bring the perpetrators to justice, but also to intensify efforts in rescue operations for victims still in captivity. “

Former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Isa Pantami later confirmed Najeeba’s murder on Saturday night.
He said he spoke to the deceased’s father about releasing the remaining kidnapped girls.
“Inna lil Laahi wa inna ilai Hello Raajiun! I just read about the murder of our daughter Najeeba (level 400, ABU). I also spoke with her father about the five remaining kidnapped daughters. May Allah forgive her, rescue others and bring absolute peace to Nigeria,” Pantami said in a post on her X.
