The office of the General Accountant of the Federation (OAGF) has blamed some technical problems for the delay in the payment of June salaries to some government workers. According to the Director of Press, OAGF, Bawa Mokwa, the office is working all year round. watch to make sure the problem is resolved.
Mokwa said the delay was due to technical problems with the Government’s Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS), one of the salary platforms.
“As we speak, the directors and the consultant in charge of the platforms are in a crucial meeting, working around the clock to solve the problem.
“Any time from now, wages are going to start going down,” he said.
Meanwhile, some Abuja officials have been lamenting the late payment of June salaries.
According to Uloma Offor, a civil servant, the salary is in arrears.
“I depend on this monthly salary to survive; I pay my debts and buy food, but with the delay, all this is not possible.
“I beg the federal government to pay so I can restock my house, my children are crying at home,” he said.
Another official, Jones Tolu, said that the delay in the payment of wages, together with the removal of the gasoline subsidy, had made life difficult for the masses.
“My friends in some parastatals and ministries received their June salaries, but not all.
“My children cannot go to school because I have a pending payment and their exam is coming up soon.

“The government is not even saying anything. They should take urgent steps to address the situation so that civil servants can meet their financial needs,” he said.
A trader in Wuse market, Ibrahim Umar, said he experienced little patronage during the Sallah celebration and is still experiencing it due to the delay.
“The market has been experiencing low patronage of late, and this is related to the late payment of June salary to civil servants.”
