On May 24, 2023, Alex Otti took office pledging to reshape Abia’s destiny. Similarly transformative are the new laws creating the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA) and the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA). These bodies will oversee comprehensive infrastructure growth in urban and suburban corridors, turning once-overlooked regions into vibrant hubs for agriculture, commerce, and modern living. From real estate roadmaps to community development guidelines, these authorities are breathing new life into Abia’s towns and villages, amplifying opportunities for both small businesses and multinational investors.
Governor Otti extended warm gratitude to Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa and the members of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly for putting aside partisan divides to champion the “New Abia” project. Since their inauguration in June 2023, they have not only enriched the legal framework but have positioned the state to ride the waves of regional and international economic shifts. Their collaboration on pension reform, performance-based administration, fiscal discipline, and ease-of-doing-business measures has accelerated Abia’s march toward prosperity.
