The office of Abia state governor on homeland security in partnership with the National Drugs law enforcement agency-NDLEA Abia state command has carried out raids on notorious hard drug hotspots in the state capital Umuahia.

The raids which took place on the 14th of February witnessed the arrest of an alleged notorious female narcotics distribution kingpin identified as Adaobi Nweke at 23 Arochukwu street Umuahia. The lady was identified as the daughter of a once notorious criminal in Abia state “Joe king Jaguar”.

Briefing newsmen on the raid, senior special assistant to Abia state governor on homeland security chukwuneye Anajemba noted that the suspects’ criminal activities spans a period of over two decades.

He listed some of the narcotic substances seized during the raid to include cocaine, cannabis sativa, methamphetamines popularly known in local palance as nkpurunmiri, loud amongst others.

The raid also took the joint security team to another substance abuse and distribution hotspot referred to as “down bellow” in Umuahia were hard drugs of various types were seized and several arrest made.

The state deputy governor Engr. Okechukwu Emetu noted that the government under Dr. Alex Otti was determined to rid the state of all forms of criminal activities warning that persons who have refused to turn a new leaf should relocate from the state.

Engr. Emetu further warned that the long arm of the law will definitely catch up with those who think to twart the visionary leadership of Governor Alex Otti in bringing about a new Abia devoid of all forms of criminality and vice.

The office of Abia state governor on homeland security further added that the raid on other identified drug hotspot was ongoing. This they say will continue untill all criminal elements associated with drug distribution and abuse are flushed out of the state.
