For the sake of clarity, I acknowledge that Dr. Alex Otti is neither perfect nor immune from criticism.I agree that he should be kept on his toes since he asked for his current position, and the success or failure of his administration will have a significant influence on both Ndi Abia’s well-being and the corporate future of Abia State, independent of their particular party memberships.
In keeping with this democratic duty, I find the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Abia’s ongoing social media roadshow to be quite upsetting. History never mentions the bile.The stress on the hatred just makes it greater! To paint Governor Otti’s statements and deeds with a broad brush, extremely condescending rhetoric is frequently used.
I do recognize how severe the March 11 cut is. I have also given proper consideration to the associated shame and unclear future that PDP members, particularly those who lack obvious sources of support, are forced to confront. Even yet, Governor Otti is not the Abia PDP’s adversary. The thronging Abia electorate, which gave the Labour Party and Dr. Otti a resounding victory, is the real “guilty party,” if there is any. Please refer to the discrepancy in valid votes cast. Therefore, the vicious attack on the governor of the people is both misguided and wrong.
I want to say it again: Governor Otti should be called out for bad policies, unethical behavior, or poor policy execution, not for the impulsive insults that are currently being hurled at Abia’s most important citizen because of the way he drinks or gulps water. This is childish and unbecoming of any Abian.
Please be aware that governance is a serious concern and that Abia and Ndi Abia’s well-being are at risk. The PDP has to stop trivializing it and embrace the honorable position of “opposition”. They must overcome their personally private hatred for the much-acclaimed Dr. Otti before they can start to discuss important questions of public policy and governance with the current government within the bounds of decency. When the government makes a mistake, they should call it out and let Ndi Abia know what the PDP’s alternative position is, so that the populace is free to make fair judgments and unbiased decisions.
Without a doubt, Governor Otti’s administration has caused disruption and shock. At this point, the PDP should stop venting its rage and frustration, engage in a thorough exercise in self-evaluation and stock-taking, and prepare for the laborious task of opposition. We can all work together to make Abia a fantastic place.
