The Abuja Presidential Election Appeal Court has rejected 15 of the 27 witnesses presented by Atiku Abubakar of the PPD to prove their case against the election of President Bola Tinubu.
The court rendered the decision in the judgment, which is still being delivered at the time of writing this Wednesday, by Stephen Adah, a member of the five-member court.
The court annulled the testimonies of the 15 witnesses, considering that the petitioner did not present his statements under oath together with the petition. It added that the petitioner was unable to present the sworn statements before the deadline of 21 days for the presentation of electoral petitions from the date on which the results of the elections were announced.
Adah said that the court, having rejected the testimony of the 15 witnesses, the documents, some 37, which were presented as evidence through them, could be removed from the court file.

With this decision, Atiku’s petition follows the same path as the case of Peter Obi of the Labor Party, whose 10 of the 13 witnesses he presented were previously rejected. In the end, the court dismissed the entire petition filed by Mr. Obi for lack of merit.
The court is still ruling on Atiku’s case at the time of writing this report.
