President Bola Tinubu has called all the Nigerian ambassadors.

“…the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has clarified that all career and non-career ambassadors have been removed on the instructions of President Bola Ahmed TinubuAlkasim Abdulkadir, special adviser to the Foreign Minister on Media and Communications Strategy, wrote in a statement on Saturday.

Tinubu had called the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK on Thursday. No reason was given for the withdrawal and Saturday’s statement showed the case was only the first among many.

According to Abdulkadir, ambassadors as representatives of the country act at the behest of the president and it is his prerogative to send or withdraw them from any country.

Lord Tinubu’s removal of ambassadors indicates that new envoys will be appointed or existing ones will be reassigned to new assignments.

In a separate statement, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale said the removal follows the president’s “careful study” of the current situation at Nigerian consulate and embassy offices around the world.

“…in line with the President’s agenda of renewed hope, the President is determined to ensure that world-class efficiency and quality henceforth characterize the delivery of domestic and international services to citizens, residents and potential visitors alike. “, said.
