President Bola Tinubu will attend the G20 Summit to be held on September 9-10 in New Delhi, India to attract private capital for the development of the country’s critical infrastructure.
Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and advertising, who revealed this in Abuja on Friday, said the summit was based on the urgent need to attract foreign direct investment to the country.
The Group of Twenty (G20) is the main forum for international economic cooperation.
It plays an important role in shaping and strengthening the global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues.
Ngelale said the president would focus his attention on meetings with executives from the world’s most valuable companies to discuss investment in critical sectors of the economy for job creation.
”We are focused on commitments that will address critical sectors of the national economy, involving steel development, electricity generation, transmission and distribution, shipyard capacity building, and various other industries, which we know are labor intensive. .
”The President will host a CEO Roundtable, which will comprise of more than 20 CEOs from major industries across multiple sectors of the Indian economy to ensure we harness their interest in investing in the country.
”In addition, there will be at least five meetings with the CEOs of five major Indian industries, including Jindal Steel and Power Company, among others, which would have a very significant impact on our ability to develop the steel sector in our country. country.”
He said Tinubu would also meet Brazil’s President da Silva, German Foreign Minister Olaf Schultz, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and some other heads of state on the sidelines of the G20.
”The G20 is an important event for our country right now and we are going to make sure we take full advantage of the opportunities presented to bring value to the country, create jobs for our people and ultimately generate and expand existing revenues. in the country to ensure that the government can effectively finance and sponsor its programs and policies in all sectors.
